Our Journey: From Vision to Legacy
Founded in 1995 by the visionary Dr. Shakeela Akhtar, Shaafi Hospital (commonly known as Dr. Shakeela Shabbir Hospital due to the founder and her husband’s name) began as a modest facility in a building at the junction of Ali Pur and Farash in Islamabad. What started with a single Gynaecologist/Obstetrician unwavering commitment has grown into a trusted healthcare institution serving the local community.
Dr. Shakeela, more belovedly known as Dr. Shakeela Shabbir, envisioned a center of excellence in obstetric and gynecological care—one that never turned away a patient due to financial hardship. As patient demand increased, the hospital expanded its infrastructure and services to meet the growing needs of the community.
From the very beginning, Dr. Shakeela Shabbir worked tirelessly to serve patients from all walks of life. Her commitment to providing care transcended socioeconomic status, welcoming individuals and families living well below the poverty line with dignity and respect. Her compassion was the cornerstone of Shaafi Hospital’s reputation, and her ability to lead with empathy, even in the most complex clinical scenarios, left a lasting impact on generations of patients. Her legacy lives on in the hospital’s enduring mission to serve with integrity, kindness, and unrelenting dedication.
Current Hospital Leadership Dr Shakeela Shabbir has delegated operational responsibilities to a dedicated Board of Directors, with Dr. Farhat Ullah serving as Managing Director. Under his leadership, supported by specialists including Dr. Faiza Irrum, Dr. Maria Javaid, and Dr. Madeeha Sadiq, the hospital continues to deliver compassionate, high-quality care across women’s health services. It is home to many highly trained physicians committed to advancing patient care. This evolution stands as a testament to the founding principle: healthcare should be accessible, ethical, and community-centered.
